Biografie/Nederlands

Blaise Kintaki is een zanger-componist uit Congo Kinshasa. Sinds 1995 verovert hij de Hollandse podia met zijn swingende afro-beat. In zijn composities, gezongen in het Frans en Lingala, is het opzwepende ritme van de Congolese soukous te horen, evenals invloeden van blues en jazz. Kintaki zegt ook beïnvloed te zijn door de populaire rumba uit het Kinshasa van zijn jeugd.

HET BEGIN
In Zaïre begint Kintaki zijn muzikale carrière als trompettist in de groep Chem Chem Yetu. Later maakt hij deel uit van de groep OJLAI. In deze tijd begint Kintaki, op 17-jarige leeftijd, zijn eerste songs te schrijven. Als de liedjes van OJLAI om politieke redenen gecensureerd worden, besluit Kintaki naar Frankrijk te gaan. In Parijs schrijft hij een groot aantal songs. Sinds 1995 woont hij in Nederland.

DE OPTREDENS
Op veel plaatsen in Nederland is Kintaki al opgetreden met zijn professionele musici uit Afrika, Zuid-Amerika en Nederland. Zij hebben gespeeld in clubs als Nighttown (Rotterdam), Agnathon (Amsterdam), de Effenaar (Eindhoven), O42 (Nijmegen), Basement 5 (Maastricht), Jazzpodium DJS (Dordrecht ) et op festivals als Festival Mundial (Tilburg ), Dunya Festival (Rotterdam ), Art on the Run (Dronten ), HaSchiba Festival (Den Haag ), African Festival Delft, Summerdown (Puurs, België ) en Bevrijdingsfestivals in Groningen en Den Bosch.

DE MEDIA
Blaise Kintaki is geïnterviewd door landelijke radiostations als Q Radio en Radio 6 en door verscheidene regionale radio- en televisiezenders. Ook in kranten en tijdschriften is aandacht besteed aan Kintaki en zijn muziek.

Radio en TV
Verschillende radiostations hebben aandacht besteed aan de CD Amie. Interviews waren er onder meer met Q Radio (het vroegere Radio Londen). Kintaki trad live op voor Radio Gelderland en was met zijn groep te zien in het programma Muzieksessies van TV Gelderland. Van dit optreden zijn twee videoclips beschikbaar:

Biography/English

Blaise Kintaki is a singer-composer from Congo Kinshasa. Since 1995 he conquers the Dutch podia with his swinging afro-beat. In his compositions, sung in French and Lingala, one detects the inciting rhythm of the Congolese soukous, as well as influences of blues and jazz. Kintaki claims also to be influenced by the popular rumba that he heard in his youth in Kinshasa.

THE BEGINNING
In Zaïre Kintaki starts his musical career as trumpetplayer in the band Chem Chem Yetu. Later on he becomes a member of the band OJLAI. In this period, when he is about 17 years old, Kintaki starts to compose his first repertoire. When the songs of OJLAI are being censured for political reasons, Kintaki decides to go to France. In Paris he writes a great number of songs. Since 1995 he lives in the Netherlands.

PERFORMANCES
All over the Netherlands Kintaki has played with his band of professional musicians from Africa, South America and Holland. They performed in clubs as Nighttown (Rotterdam), Agnathon (Amsterdam), Effenaar (Eindhoven), O42 (Nijmegen), Basement 5 (Maastricht), Jazzpodium DJS (Dordrecht ) and at festivals such as Festival Mundial (Tilburg ), Dunya Festival (Rotterdam ), Art on the Run (Dronten ), HaSchiba Festival (Den Haag ), African Festival Delft, Summerdown (Puurs, Belgium ) and Liberation Festivals in Groningen and ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

THE MEDIA
Blaise Kintaki has been interviewed by several national and regional broadcasting stations and television channels in the Netherlands. Newspapers and journals have also payed attention tot Kintaki and his music.

Radio and TV
Different radio stations paid attention tot the CD Amie. There were interviews with Q Radio (the former Radio London). Kintaki performed live for Radio Gelderland and he played with his band for the show Muzieksessies of TV Gelderland. There are two videoclips available from this show:

Dans ses compositions, chantées en français et lingala, on retrouve le soukous congolais ainsi que les influences de blues et jazz. Aussi la rumba populaire de Kinshasa des années soixante-dix joue un rôle important dans la musique de Kintaki.

À cette époque Kintaki commence à écrire ses premières chansons, à l’âge de 17 ans. Quand les compositions de OJLAI ont été censurées pour des raisons politiques, Kintaki se décide d’aller en France. À Paris il écrit un grand nombre de chansons. Depuis 1995 Kintaki habite aux Pays-Bas.

LES CONCERTS
Partout aux Pays-Bas Kintaki a donné des concerts avec son groupe de musiciens professionels de l’Afrique, de l’Amérique du Sud et des Pays-Bas. Les occasions se varient: entre autres les clubs connus comme Nighttown (Rotterdam), Agnathon (Amsterdam), Effenaar (Eindhoven), O42 (Nijmegen), Basement 5 (Maastricht), Jazzpodium DJS (Dordrecht ) et les grands festivals comme: Festival Mundial (Tilburg ), Dunya Festival (Rotterdam ), Art on the Run (Dronten ), HaSchiba Festival (La Haye ), African Festival Delft, Summerdown (Puurs, Belgique ) et les Fêtes de la Libération à Groningen et à Duc le Bois.

Blaise Kintaki a été ïnterviewé par quelques stations de radio et télévision nationales et régionales aux Pays-Bas. Aussi certains journaux et magazines ont fait attention à Kintaki et sa musique.
